USS Midway comes to Oakland:

Thirty years of aerial photography have enabled us to accomplish some remarkable things on the job. In October 2003, we were asked to photograph the USS Midway as it arrived at the Port of Oakland on its way to its permanent anchorage as the USS Midway Museum in San Diego.

Flying alongside this historic aircraft carrier in a helicopter was unforgettable, but what made it even more special was the rare opportunity to land on the Midway itself. Since the journey through San Francisco Bay was long and refueling wasn’t an option, we were permitted to touch down, cruise alongside the ship, and then take off again to capture more photographs.

We are proud to say that we were the last pilots and aircraft to land and take off from that famous aircraft carrier.
