Mare Island turned out to be Love Island:

Some pictures we are asked to take turn out to be very personal. The photography we took in July 2022, is of Mare Island, a peninsula located in northern Californiasituated in the San Francisco Bay, near the mouth of the Napa River and the Carquinez Strait. During World War 2, the island was the site of a military base, a naval shipyard,and a hospital, all of which closed in 1996. The photography was ordered by a client producing renderings of potential development on the land. The photo shoot was special because Pat’s mother was a WAVE during World War II and was stationed at Mare Island Hospital. Pat’s father was a guard at the base at the same time. They met there, fell in love, and married.
